2021 Ford Bronco, Paul Walker Lightweights, 2020 BMW M8: This Week’s Top Photos

The 2021 Ford Bronco was finally spotted testing on public roads in prototype form. To date, every Bronco sighting has been of a mule with cobbled-together body panels from a Ford Ranger pickup. The prototype sports production sheet metal and gives us our first real look at the Wrangler competitor. Spoiler: It’s a box on wheels just like the original Broncos.

2021 Ford Bronco, 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, 2021 GMC Yukon: This Week’s Top Photos

The 2021 Ford Bronco was teased with a video of a mule blasting across the desert this week. While the mule wasn’t a full prototype with a production-intent body, the running gear and suspension were mostly likely production-spec. With big, knobby, all-terrain tires, short front and rear overhangs, and—we expect—Fox shocks, the Bronco will be ready to tackle the toughest off-road courses when it debuts later in 2020.

202-mile 1987 Buick Grand National

A 1987 Buick Grand National GNX is for sale on Bring a Trailer, and it’s essentially new. It has never been sold and has only 202 miles on the odometer, so it’s sure to command a high price. It would have to top $200,000 to beat the 8-mile GNX sold previously on the site. The car is number 308 of 547 GNXs ever built, and it sits at Boulevard Buick of Signal Hill, California.

2021 Genesis GV80

2021 Genesis GV80

The 2021 Genesis GV80 luxury crossover SUV debuted in South Korea. Sure to become the automaker’s most-important vehicle the second it goes on sale, the GV80 is a three-row SUV that will battle the BMW X5 and Audi Q7, among others. It features turbocharged engines, rear- or all-wheel drive, a distinct look, and a supple, controlled ride. Expect it to arrive in the U.S. later in 2020.

A new mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette variant was spotted undergoing cold-weather testing. We believe it’s the 2022 Corvette Z06 due to its wide fenders, gaping intakes (under all that camouflage), and massive rear tires. Expect a flat-crank 5.5-liter V-8 to power the Z06, though it’s unclear if it’ll have turbos or be naturally aspirated. Unfortunately, a manual transmission is still not expected.

2020 Honda Civic Type R, Group B rally cars, 2020 BMW Z4 M40i: This Week’s Top Photos

The 2020 Honda Civic Type R was announced this week, and with it come a host of changes that make the fun-to-drive front-wheel-drive car likely even better. New brakes should increase stopping power, and new blue paint hue is quite fetching.

2019 Hyundai Veloster and 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door – Best Car To Buy 2020

We compared the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe against the Hyundai Veloster N. With the Mercedes-AMG sporting a price tag of $189,880 and the Hyundai priced at just $29,885, there is almost no question as to which one should provide more fun. Surprisingly, the 275-horsepower economy-car-based hot hatch proved more fun than the luxury bruiser and its 630-hp twin-turbo V-8.

Group B Rally Cars

Group B Rally Cars

We respect Group B rally cars, and that led us to walk through the rally car garage of our dreams this week. With cars like the 1986 Audi Sport Quattro, BMW M1, Porsche 959, and Ford RS200 Evolution, it’s hard not to lust after the cars of the Group B era. That’s before you consider the prices of these beasts.

2020 BMW Z4 - Best Car To Buy 2020

2020 BMW Z4 – Best Car To Buy 2020

We drove the 2020 BMW Z4 M40i on the street and track and found it does exactly what a roadster is supposed to do: carve down a single-lane road while stealing looks from onlookers. The silky-smooth turbocharged inline-6 makes all the right sounds as it thrusts occupants back into their seats, and it’s aided by a slick-shifting 8-speed automatic. If only the rear end were fully sorted on a racetrack, but then again, who wants a roadster for the track outside of a spec Miata?

2019 BMW X7

2019 BMW X7

We also spent some time with the 2019 BMW X7. The three-row cruiser is every bit the luxury SUV a Range Rover is. What’s it like as a family hauler? The turbocharged inline-6 has just enough power and the third-row is sized for adults. However, the top tether for car seats in the second row is oddly placed and the third row can be a pain to access.

2020 Porsche 911 – Best Car To Buy 2020

And finally, we named the Porsche 911 as Motor Authority’s Best Car To Buy 2020. It bested the Toyota Supra, BMW Z4, Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, BMW 8-Series, and Hyundai Veloster N with its laser-sharp responses, telepathic steering, unflappable chassis, and timeless design.

2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB Class
